The Ultimate Guide to Acing GCSE Astronomy is designed for Edexcel's GCSE Astronomy course.
This book also aims to spark interest in astronomy among general students. It is written at an introductory level such that it should be accessible to anyone from year 10 onwards. The only prerequisite would be a basic knowledge of GCSE maths.
Hayden Yik Hei Chan is an aspiring theoretical physicist and an amateur astronomer, based in Shrewsbury, England and Hong Kong, China. In his GCSEs, he has achieved Grade 9s in Astronomy, Physics, Maths and Further Maths. As a Year 12 student, he achieved Top Gold in both the BPhO and BAAO Round 1 competitions, which are designed for Year 13 students, as well as an A* in the A-level Maths exam. Other achievements include a global top 100 in the Physics Bowl and various medals in UK Maths Trust competitions.
In his journey into astronomy, he was intrigued by looking deeper into the subject. However, the relevant information was pretty hard to find. Therefore, he has added a few related bits into the book, which he thinks will genuinely boost the readers' understanding of the specification and the underlying reasons behind astronomical phenomena.
