The ASI585 MC is a coloured planetary camera made by ZWO. In my opinion, it is one of the most all-rounded cameras that ZWO has to offer at a very affordable price. I would highly recommend this to people who plan to start Deep Sky Imaging but don’t quite want to invest a lot right away.

Despite being labelled as a planetary camera, its high quantum efficiency makes it a great camera for deep-space imaging too. Below are some images I captured with ASI585 with a skywatcher 150/750 Newtonian.

It also works well in light polluted skies, under which a lot of cameras are known to not perform well. Here are some images taken in Hong Kong with the skywatcher72ed.

The ASI585 is a great entry-level camera. You don’t have to worry too much about bizarre things like amp-glow or banding. It is also versatile enough to give you a taster in both planetary imaging and deep space imaging. I would highly recommend it to beginner astrophotographers with a budget.
